What's the difference between an Indy and a Free Agent?

Modified on Sat, 14 May, 2022 at 7:32 PM

For solo/small group sign ups, we have 2 options:

  • Free Agent:
When signing up as a Free Agent, your registration goes into a pool, from which any captain in that league can recruit from to fill any roster spots on their team. There is no guarantee you'll make a team. Each captain is responsible for communication with you, as well as your payment.

  • Individual (Indy):
Indy sign-up are managed through Underdog, and everyone who is placed on the Indy Team roster pays the same amount through the Underdog site. Again, there's no guarantee on making a roster, but if we have a spot available in a different league, we can move your registration and get you set up.

Your chances of being placed on a team will be much greater over all for leagues that have individual sign-ups as we have a spot reserved for a team of individuals in that league. We have no foresight or oversight of how many (if any) spots may be available on teams signed up that are not individual teams.

Free Agency is advantageous for players who are locked into a particular day or location and don't mind playing with a group of people who may have known each other for years.

Indy teams are all made up of people who sign-up as individuals, so you'll all likely be meeting each other for the first time.
